Our Instituto Coreográfico is in full-swing here at Ballet Hispanico.
Director of Education & Outreach and Instituto Panel Moderator Rachel Watts shared a few thoughts with us yesterday:
This morning, during our orientation meeting for all the players in this round of the Instituto Coreográfico, I grew more and more excited by what we were all about to embark on. Having all gone through the first round in September we were able to reflect and brainstorm ways to improve on the structure for the next two weeks. Nicholas Villeneuve, the choreographer for this Instituto, is also a dancer with the Company. He was very prepared to share his ideas and hopes with all of us. We are happy to have back with us Benjamin Halstead, the videographer, whose work you will be able to see in the coming days on this blog. Nicholas’ mentor is Linda Kent. She currently teaches at the Julliard school and was a former dancer with the Alvin Ailey and Paul Taylor companies. She has known Nicholas for several years and has seen him develop throughout his career. She shared how thrilled she was for Nicholas to have this opportunity.
